Instead of discussing a particular weed of significance to Crystal Waters this month, I will provide images and brief information about the “Prohibited Weeds” listed by Sunshine Coast Council – these are not supposed to be in Queensland and any sightings of them need to be reported to Biosecurity Queensland within 24 hours of discovery as they are considered a serious threat to our environment. So if you have any of these in your garden, or find them in your travels, please report them immediately! If you are unsure about anything you find which looks like one of these species, check in with someone else (Amy, Rhea and Evan M. are all likely to be able to confirm species).

- Cha-om (Senegalia spp)
- Harrisia cactus (Harrisia spp. syn. Eriocereus spp. other than H. martinii, H. tortuosa and H. pomanensis)
- Karoo thorn (Vachellia karoo)
- Mexican bean tree (Cecropia pachystachya, C. palmata & C. peltata)
- Peruvian primrose bush (Ludwigia peruviana)
- Yellow fever tree (Vachellia xanthophloea)
